Whitehead Poppy Appeal 2026
The 2026 Poppy Appeal will very soon be launched nationally, but Royal British Legion Branches have already set in motion the distribution of Poppy Boxes and Collecting Boxes into local schools, churches, cafes, shops and clubs.
Whitehead Branch of the RBL has been out distributing these boxes in preparation for the start of the 2026 Appeal in a few days’ time. Last year we collected almost £7000 locally, which included donations over and above the money contained in the collecting boxes. Quite remarkable, and generous, considering the size of the town.
ALL of this money goes to help veterans and their families who are in need, often for reasons connected with having served their country. Nothing is deducted for administration costs. It is vital that we continue to give to our best ability to continue this vital support to our veterans.
Whitehead Branch will open a Poppy Shop in the Whitehead Community centre from Monday 2 November to Saturday 7 November. Opening hours will be from 09.00 am to 4.00pm. On sale will be 2026 poppy pin badges, wooden crosses and a wide range of poppy goods.
Poppy wreaths will be available for collection if they have been ordered in advance.
If you need a wreath and have not yet ordered please ring the Whitehead Poppy Phone on 07471672223 and we will do our best to help. Wreaths are expensive to make by hand so have to be especially ordered from the Poppy Factory to avoid waste, so don’t delay making a request.
Finally, please come and join us as Whitehead community at the Whitehead War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday morning, 8th November, as we remember those who served in war time and did not return. We will also remember those who also served in conflicts since in defence of our Country and Communities.
Please assemble no later than 10.45 am. There will be appropriate music provided by two local bands.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
